Spine-chilling seasonal updates & news!
Halloween is a great excuse to eat a ton of candy, wear a costume, and decorate your home with creepy decorations! Three hundred sixty-four days of the year, my co-workers look at me strangely for wearing a Creeper costume with pockets full of candy corn, but look at me now! And as the resident lover of all things Halloween and spooktacular, I’m here to share the season’s spookiest news from Mojang Studios.
A SAFE AND SPOOKY SEASON AT HOME
As we’re all doing our best to stay at home and prevent the spread of COVID-19, we’re offering free downloadable DIY masks and stencils as part of our fun at home Minecraft Halloween kit! All you need to do is download them, print them out, then make them your own with whatever tools you have at home! Hop on a video call and scare your grandma or wear the mask while you eat a whole bag of fun-size candy; the Minecraft Halloween kit has you covered for any plans.
Using these pumpkin stencils is an excellent socially-distanced activity, and on top of that, carving pumpkins is the most fun you can have with a seasonal gourd! You can even bake the seeds and save them for a snack later while you ooh and ahh at your beautifully carved pumpkin. Unfortunately, my “A Pumpkin for Every Player” campaign slogan was rejected by, well, everyone, so you will have to provide your pumpkins to carve this season.
And just because we’re staying at home doesn’t mean you don’t have to dress for the eerie occasion! Find a costume at a spooky store near you (or follow this link). You should probably start practicing the signature Creeper HISSS if you want to be ready for the big day! I find that making that sound during especially dull conversations usually leads to people trying to get away from you as soon as possible. You’re welcome!
MINECRAFT MARKETPLACE? MORE LIKE MINECRAFT SCARYPLACE!
Like zombies taking over a poorly lit mineshaft, spooky Halloween content is taking over Minecraft with a curated Collection within the Marketplace AND Character Creator. Don’t worry, this scenario has approximately 5000% less of me screaming and running for the exit. Starting on October 27th at 10 AM PST/6 PM CEST, there will even be some sweet treats like a free skin pack and a super free and super spooky Character Creator item, no tricks here! But they will only be free until the event wraps up on November 3rd at 10 AM PST/7 PM CET. Oh, you thought I was done? No! This is my article and I say when I’m done! Okay, now I’m done.
A SPOOKY FALL EVENT FOR THE AGES (AND FOR MINECRAFT DUNGEONS)!
The Minecraft Dungeons team must also be fans of all things creepy and crawly because they’re joining the festivities with the Spooky Fall Event! From October 26th to November 3rd at midnight, time-limited Seasonal Trials will bring supernaturally tricky challenges and otherworldly rewards.
Because I like to eat dessert first, let’s talk about those otherworldly rewards! If you can brave the Seasonal Trials and emerge safely on the other side, you’ll get exclusive gear and weapons that are a must-have for this spooky season! But now for the double serving of brussels sprouts (aka the scariest vegetable), these Seasonal Trials will be summoning up the spookiest mobs and turning down the lights with the new Night Mode, an even more challenging way to play the game. Make sure you join the frightful festivities before the time is up (or the battery on my night-light runs out)!
A SCARY SEASON FOR MINECRAFT EARTH
As the seasons change on Earth, so do they IN Earth. That sounded a lot wittier in my head, but the point is that a new season is kicking off in Minecraft Earth! The Boo! Spooky! event has all new challenges to unlock and thrilling themed character creator items. Party! But what good is a party without a few unexpected guests? On October 20th, the Witch, Viler Witch, and Climbing Zombie will creep and crawl their way into the game.
